Day 5
Oklahoma and Arkansas, what can I say. We did not stop at anything really interesting. We did find a Freightliner Service Center in Oklahoma City and stopped to get a part that we needed for one of our wheels on the Motorhome. We went through very early so avoided the traffic in the city, smooth sailing for us.
We had decided the night before to try to make it to Van Buren, AR, by 11 a.m. for a train excursion. We were up at 4 am, out of camp by 5 am, but still were not able to make it by 11. Oh well, an excursion for on the way home if we come by way of I-40.
It was hot and very humid. By the time we stopped last night in Russellville, AR it was 110 with I'm sure the same humidity.
We tried to stay at a State Campground at Piney Bay, in the Ozarks, but with only 30 amp service the power kept going out, so we left there and found another treasure, Outdoor Living Center RV Park about 10 miles down the road in Russellville, AR.
Although hot, the wind was not blowing us off the road like it did the previous 2 days so we had a much more pleasant drive.
